The centre offers maps, brochures, souvenirs, and on-site facilities, making it a helpful first stop when arriving in the region.

Located in the heart of Wynyard, the Wynyard Visitor Information Centre incorporates the popular Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition Centre and offers a welcoming starting point for exploring the region. Located in Smithton, the Smithton Visitor Information Centre provides comprehensive visitor servicing for Tasmania’s far North West and Tarkine region. The centre offers knowledgeable, local advice and can assist with bookings for accommodation, tours, attractions, and activities, including the popular Robotic Dairy Tour. Visitors can access maps and brochures, National Park Passes, and a range of on-site facilities, and enjoy café services, cheese tastings, museum displays, and theatre viewing.

The Smithton Visitor Information Centre was recognised as the 2025 Gold Winner – Tasmania Visitor Information Centre at the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania (TICT) Tourism Awards, reflecting the high standard of visitor servicing delivered by the centre.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff can assist with travel planning and bookings for accommodation, attractions, airlines, and the Spirit of Tasmania, as well as provide National Parks Passes and angling licences. Across Tasmania, some visitor information outlets display the blue-and-white “i” symbol. While these locations are not formally accredited, they can still provide helpful local advice and travel information, often from within local businesses. Services, opening hours, and facilities may be more limited, but they are still a great place to start your Tasmanian adventure.
